Health care providers who attend the Critical Care Surgery Review will attend three days of didactic lectures with designated question and answer time at the end of each session and at the end of each day.

The course will focus on surgical approaches, perioperative evaluation, best practices concepts, and strategies for follow-up.

Areas of focus include: Ethical and Legal Issues in Surgical Critical Care Medicine; Pediatric Trauma and Emergencies; Infectious Disease Management and Antibiotic Choices; Oxygen Transportations and Ventilator Management; Oncologic Emergencies; Tumor Lysis Syndrome and Other Metabolic Complications; Acute Abdomen; Management of Endocrine Emergencies; Neurosurgical Critical Care; Managing Adult and Pediatric Transplant Patients in the ICU; Metabolism and Nutrition; Compartment Syndromes: Extremity, Abdominal and Thoracic; Toxins and Antidotes; Anesthetic Complications and Pain Management; Thoracic Trauma; ARDS and Respiratory Failure; Thermal Injuries: Burns, Frost Bite and Hypothermia; Bleeding, Coagulation, Thrombosis and Pulmonary Emboli; SIRS and MOD and Sepsis Standards of Care; Renal Physiology and Renal Failure (acute and chronic); Fluids, Electrolytes and Acid-Base; Perioperative Management of the Acute Cardiac Surgery Patient: Adult and Pediatric; GI Bleeding and Intra-Abdominal Problems in the ICU; Pelvic Trauma; Hemodynamic Assessment, Swan Ganz, Inotrope and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump; and Abdominal Trauma.

This review is will not only improve participants’ clinical knowledge-base, but it will also help participants prepare for Critical Care Surgery exams (certifying and MOC). Participants can earn up to 30 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.
